Many schools who use the Gowanus Canal in their environmental science, architecture and urban planning programs often invite the Gowanus Dredgers to give a presentation and lecture from our dock or on water via our guided voyages for up to 18 students depending on age. The educational unit is structured to highlight challenges facing our urban environment, planning, architecture, engineering and biology of the Gowanus Canal while making observations of the Canal from our shoreline or from above the water in a canoe.
We can also visit your school to view & dicuss videos & news segments or a present a PowerPoint lecture followed by a student discussion about creative solutions to facilitate a clean harbor.
In addition, the Gowanus Dredgers offer lectures on urban planning & industrial architecture for older students interested in these growing fields.
