Membership in the Dredgers Canoe Club is open to any person. Members are to contribute a $25 annual donation per person or as otherwise described in our Bylaws. Your donation provides the funding for our public programs. Our annual membership year begins on September 1st and concludes on November 1st the following year.

Membership is voluntary, and you do NOT need to be a paid member to participate in our public programs, or to volunteer to help.

By joining our organization, you will be contributing to our program dedicated to environmental restoration through recreation and education. You will receive notices of important events and meetings that will make a clean, safe, waterfront become a reality. Please donate online or mail a check payable to The Gowanus Dredgers to the address above.

Members who enroll through the Gowanus Canal Activity are eligible to purchase an annual "equipment fee" ($75 first year and $25 each returning year) for use of equipment by appointment. We ask that every member that purchases the equipment fee also signup / volunteer to be Program Coordinator of one of our free Wed evening or Saturday Afternoon events. Program Coordinator manages the dock, ensures equipment is sized and used correctly and open/closes the public program.

At our public programs, all participants are allowed to use equipment for 15 minutes or longer if there's no line.

Corporate donors should let us know if you would like to be listed as a sponsor on our website and include your address, e-mail. Indicate the sponsorship category in the designation section if donating via the link above or in the memo area on your check:

  • Annual Membership dues: $25
  • Annual Membership dues and first year Gowanus equipment use: $100
  • Renewing Annual Membership dues and returning year Gowanus equipment use: $50
