The Dredgers lead a casual ride on city streets and bicycle paths to explore the historic South Brooklyn shoreline with multiple stops along the route.  Departing from Borough Hall's west facing steps, we head south on Furman Street to Red Hook, traveling mostly along the greenway to discuss features and history of the waterfront neighborhood of South Brooklyn.

Bring your bicycle or use a Citibike for the ride.

Folowing the ride through Red Hook, we continue slowly up the banks of the Gowanus Canal exploring the hidden treasures of landmarks, bridges and dead end streets.  We end the ride at the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse, where riders can freshen up in our restroom and then enjoy a self-guided canoe voyage along the Gowanus Canal while our dock steward watches your bicycles.

The riding pace is easy and slow around the Gowanus Canal. This is a perfect ride for beginners and all ages. The route has over 20 stops & usually lasts for 90 min to two hours. Bring a snack and some water. Tour is cancelled if it is raining 30 minutes prior to departure and the ride is free ($10 donations encouraged). Don't forget a helmet, sunscreen and camera for the interesting sights and spectacular views.
